Celanese top management views leadership development as a key management responsibility and invests a significant amount of time and energy to selecting and developing future leaders.

Celanese not only expects its leaders to be results-oriented, set ambitious goals, develop employees and give constructive feedback; it also expects them to successfully work across borders, develop visions and think and plan long-term in a complex, international environment. Thus. Celanese leadership development is characterized by development across regions, functions and divisions. As they plan their careers, future leaders should include international experience within different functions and departments of the company. There is a focus on "on-the-job" training, accompanied by regular feedback and coaching. When job openings are filled, the company chooses the best qualified candidate with a focus on the long-term development goals for the individual as well as the company.

Emerging Leaders at Celanese Our investment in the future
Special development programs enable our emerging leaders to work together and to engage directly with the senior management team. The training includes an Emerging Leaders Forum, in which leaders from a variety of countries, functions, divisions and backgrounds, work together for several months on a strategically important company project. They will then present the final results of that project to the management board. They are also involved in "executive dialogues", where they have the opportunity to discuss career opportunities and challenges with experienced executives in one-on-one meetings.

We have a strong company focus on developing our future leaders, however the development of all of our employees is also important. Our leaders and managers encourage employee development at all levels by fostering an environment in which our employees understand that their development is their responsibility. Each individual is expected to creatively achieve strong results, constantly strive for top performance and "raise the bar", inspire co-workers and communicate personal career goals.
